Since March, customised invites have been given in addition to general draws to support BC government initiatives such as assisting certain industrial sectors and boosting regional immigration.

The PNP in British Columbia

The BC PNP aims to recruit foreign workers in high demand in the province who wish to make Canada their permanent home.

The BC PNP's two primary immigration streams are Skills Immigration and Express Entry, both of which are divided into sub-categories. These streams are managed by British Columbia's Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS). You must first create an account with the SIRS before you can apply. Following that, you'll be given a score based on factors such as your education, work experience, and language abilities.

The top-scoring applicants from each sub-category are invited to apply for a provincial nomination to apply for Canadian permanent residency when British Columbia has one of its regular draws.

You will have 30 days from the date of the invitation to complete and submit a full application using the BC PNP online system.

You will be notified of the province's decision within two to three months of completing a full BC PNP application paperwork. If your nomination is accepted, you will be able to apply to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada for permanent residence under the Provincial Nominee Class (IRCC).

The nomination is valid for around six months from the date of confirmation.

You can earn an additional 600 points as a provincial nominee under the CRS, allowing you to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) at a subsequent federal Express Entry draw.
