Is your Work Experience sufficient for Canada Express Entry?

 Overview

  • Work experience for Canada Express Entry only counts if it is classified as "skilled" under Canada's occupational classification system. The greater your occupational skill level, the more education, and experience you'll need to do your job.
  • The Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) uses a point system to evaluate applicants. Work experience, language competency, and education criteria must all be met in order to qualify. You can complete this requirement in a variety of ways, including working full-time for a year or part-time.
  • People with work experience in Canada are eligible for the Canadian Experience Class (CEC). You must have worked full-time in a skilled occupation for at least one year.
  • Candidates for the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) must also have a certain level of language proficiency.

When it comes to Canada Express Entry, the specific occupation does not matter as much as the skill level. Canada currently analyzes a job's skill level using the 2016 National Occupational Classification (NOC) IRCC will match your job duties with the NOC description to determine your occupation and whether or not it is skilled. When Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) assess your work experience, it looks at how much education is required to do your job.

On the Canadian government's website, there are five NOC competence levels:

Management positions, such as restaurant managers, mine managers, and shore captains, are Skill Type 0 (zero).

Professional vocations that often require a university degree, such as doctors, dentists, and architects, are classified as Skill Level A.

Chefs, plumbers, and electricians are examples of technical vocations and skilled trades that typically require a college diploma or apprenticeship training are categorized as Skill Level B.

Intermediate jobs, such as industrial butchers, long-haul truck drivers, and food and beverage servers, normally require a high school diploma and/or job-specific training fall under Skill Level C.

Fruit pickers, cleaning staff, and oil field employees are examples of skill level D employment that provide on-the-job training.

Only jobs that fall within skill types 0, A, and B are deemed "skilled" for the purposes of Canada Express Entry to be qualified for one of the three Express Entry-managed Canada immigration programs, you must have relevant job experience. "Full-time" is defined by the IRCC as 30 hours per week. You can work more or less than 15 hours per week for part-time work as long as it totals 1,560 hours.

Canada's Immigration and Refugee Council (IRCC) assesses your application on a points system specific to the Federal Skilled Worker Program. At a minimum, you need at least one year of skilled work experience within the past 10 years. Part-time work counts as long as it adds up to the minimum number of hours. Self-employment in Canada does not count.

The MPNP, which obtained the lowest score of 685, went to great lengths to find 39 talented workers in other countries. This stream is for international and out-of-country applicants with significant professional expertise and strong ties to Manitoba, such as a family member who lives here or previous job experience.

The PNP in Manitoba is one of only a few government-funded programs in Canada. Candidates who were individually recruited by the MPNP through a Strategic Recruitment drive and had valid IRCC Express Entry profiles were eligible to submit Expressions of Interest from Skilled Workers Overseas. They will also receive 600 extra points, increasing their chances of earning an Invitation to Apply (ITA) from Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for permanent residency in Canada and becoming a Canada PR. Even though they scored higher than the lowest-ranked rival, the majority of candidates report they did not receive an Application Letter.

This could be because you claimed to have taken an approved third-party language exam to verify your English/French language abilities, but you either did not give or did not include a valid Test. You claimed that you were requested to apply to the MPNP as part of a Strategic Initiative, but your expression of interest (EOI) either lacked a valid invitation number or had expired. This is your chance to apply for Manitoba's Permanent Residence Program this year and become a permanent resident of the province.

Candidates from Ontario with high test scores are now eligible to apply.

Since September 2021, Canada has not held an Express Entry draw for anyone other than PNP candidates. Immigration Minister Sean Fraser has not offered a firm date for resumed draws for Canadian Experience Class (CEC) and Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) candidates, but he recently promised business leaders that it would be in the "near future."

Only PNP candidates have been invited since then. Candidates in Ontario with Express Entry scores of greater than 467 were not invited to file for a nomination in 2021. As a result, some contenders attempted to lower their pool ratings in order to receive an Ontario nomination.

Canada expects to bring in 83,500 immigrants this year through both Express Entry-aligned and base PNP categories, according to the updated 2022-2024 Immigration Levels Plan. The new targets are higher than those set by the government in the previous levels plan, which called for 81,500 PNP immigrants in 2022 and 83,000 in 2023.

PNPs allow Canadian provinces to invite immigrants who meet their local labour market demands. Candidates who get a provincial Express Entry nomination are almost assured to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence in Canada. Candidates who get a provincial Express Entry nomination are almost assured to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence in Canada.

Concerning Express Entry

Express Entry is a method that allows persons to apply for permanent residence with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada directly (IRCC). It is not an immigration program in and of itself, but it oversees the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Canadian Experience Class, and Federal Skilled Trades Program applications.

You can build an Express Entry profile if you are eligible for one or more of these programs. After you've uploaded all of your documents, you'll be given a score based on your work experience, education, age, and English or French language proficiency, among other factors.

The IRCC runs a draw every two weeks and issues ITAs to the top scorers, allowing individuals to apply for permanent residency in Canada.

So, do you want to move to Ontario this year and get the most sought-after Ontario PNP? Now is the time to join the Ontario PNP and take the first step toward a brighter future.

IN NEW PNP DRAW, BRITISH COLUMBIA INVITES 160 PEOPLE.

The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draws held on February 22nd, 2022, resulted in the invitation of 160 immigrants from British Columbia.

The province held two draws under the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP), inviting candidates from the Skills Immigration (SI) and Express Entry BC (EEBC) streams.

Those from the SI and EEBC streams' Skilled Worker, International Graduate, Entry Level, and Semi-Skilled sub-categories received invitations.

The majority of the 145 invitations were distributed via a general draw. Candidates who met the minimal score requirements of 77 to 125, depending on the program for which they are eligible, received invitations.

The office also solicited applicants with NOC 0621 (retail and wholesale trade managers) or 0631 (retail and wholesale trade managers) as their occupation (managers of restaurants and food services). There were 15 invitations in that draw, each with a minimum score of 125.

Since February 2021, British Columbia has held a new round of invites twice a month as part of their PNP programs. The province's Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS) is conducting the draws due to the large number of candidates who have registered in specific labour market sectors.

The Below table contains the detailed information of the draw for viewers to go through

The PNP in British Columbia

It aims to attract foreign workers who want to settle permanently in the province and are in high demand.

In the BC PNP, there are two main immigration streams: Skills Immigration and Express Entry, each of which has subcategories. These streams are managed by the Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS) in British Columbia. You must first create an account with the SIRS before you can apply. Following that, you'll be given a score based on factors such as your education, work experience, and language skills.

The top-scoring candidates from each sub-category are invited to apply for a provincial nomination to seek for permanent residency in Canada when British Columbia has one of its regular draws.

If you have received an invitation, you have 30 days from the date of the invitation to submit a complete application through the BC PNP online system.

You will be notified of the province's decision within two to three months of submitting a complete BC PNP application packet.

In the event your nomination is approved, you might be able to apply for permanent residency status under the Provincial Nominee Class with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). About six months are allowed after the date of confirmation for the nomination to be effective.

By becoming a provincial nominee under the CRS, you can earn an additional 600 points, which will allow you to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in a subsequent federal Express Entry draw. Boon for the skilled workers as Canada Express Entry draws to resume soon!!!

 Shine A Spotlight On:

·         CEC Draws

·         Discussion on changes in Canada Express Entry

·         What is Canada Express Entry

An insight on Immigration Ministers Sean Fraser’s deliberation on Canada Express Entry.

Immigration Minister Claims to resume Canada Experience Class Draws for skilled workers, also they are working to make the Canada Express Entry process more flexible for the aspiring immigrants.

Canada Club, Toronto website on February 16th, 2022 streamed a deliberation between President and CEO of the Business Council of Canada and Fraser in regards with Immigration to Canada.

·        No announcements have been made to resume the draw yet, but definitely in near future.

·    CIC will restore the entire Canada Immigration back on track as per the immigration plan and number of Federal Skilled Workers along with the Canada Experience Class will be welcomed to Canada as the most successful immigration.

Free Canada Immigration Assessment Form

Fraser also stated that he would want to see the Express Entry system become more flexible. Express Entry, he suggested, could be used to meet short-term needs such as welcoming people into smaller communities, high-demand sectors, and "people who are coming from a particular region that has the kind of educational institutions that will train the workers we need in strategically important sectors."

"I'm personally digging into building this flexibility into the Canada Express Entry system right now because I think it'll help us to adapt in a more fluid way when we see the rate of transition only rising over time," Fraser said.

In a discussion with Canadian immigration lawyers, Fraser hinted that occupation-specific Express Entry Draw could be a possibility in the future.

One of Fraser's priorities outlined in his ministerial mandate letter is expanding Express Entry options to permanent residency of Canada for international students and temporary foreign employees. Furthermore, he oversees the expansion of the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot and moving forward with the Municipal Nominee Program to address the needs of small towns. In addition to making the Atlantic Immigration Pilot permanent, one of his other objectives was to make it a permanent program.

What is the procedure for Canada Express Entry?

Canada Express Entry was intended to handle immigration applications for employees who qualify for one of three programmes: the Canadian Experience Class, the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), or the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP). If nominated by a participating Canadian province or territory, candidates would also be eligible for the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).

In general, a candidate's eligibility for Canada Express Entry-managed programs is determined by their prior work experience in "skilled" occupations. If a candidate meets the requirements for an Express Entry-managed program, they can earn points based on human capital indicators such as age, education, job experience, and proficiency in an official language. Candidates with the highest scores are asked to apply for Canadian immigration.

As per the recent Canada Express Entry Survey:

Canada has only been encouraging PNP candidates to apply through the Canada Express Entry route since September 2021. The halt in CEC, FSWP, and FSTP draws is temporary, according to Fraser, while Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) handles with the pandemic-related backlog of immigration petitions.

About 64,890 FSWP and CEC candidates awaited results on their immigration applications as of February 1. There will be fewer Express Entry, Immigrants to Canada this year than there are in the backlog, according to the immigration levels plan for 2022-2024. Without taking into account the number of PNP candidates, Canada is expecting to admit 55,900 immigrants through Express Entry in 2022. Canada expects to entertain 75,750 Express Entry immigrants the upcoming year.

Through Express Entry, Canada expects to receive a record number of 111,500 immigrants by 2024. In the fall of this year, Fraser will present the second immigration levels strategy for 2023-2025. The target set for 2023 and beyond might be subjected to change.
