Ontario’s Express Entry New Invitations Given to HCP and Skilled Trade Stream

The Ontario province has issued Notifications of Interest (NOI) under the Human Capital Priorities Stream (HCP) to 185 applicants in a new draw held on November 26, 2018. The invitations are given to the candidates in the express entry pool who meet the HCP stream criteria and have a job offer letter from Ontario employer.

The popular Express Entry linked stream invited applicants after the August 9, 2018 draw.

Express Entry candidates selected in November 26 draw had CRS score range 350-448 along with a job offer in Ontario. A tie break rule was applied where the applicants who have submitted their profile on January 1, 2018 to November 22, 2018 before1:13 PM EST were given Notification of Interest in this current draw.

The OINP said that this “targeted search was done to help Ontario meet its labour market and economic development priorities, as well as to be more responsive to employer needs.”

Earlier, Ontario province announced that the minimum requirements of CRS score for Express Entry will be based on the director’s requirement in accordance with the province needs. The earlier requirement of at least 400 CRS is not applicable in the current draws as of now.


The Human Capital Stream under OINP searches the federal express entry pool for candidates who can meet the provincial and federal criteria and invite the selected applicants for provincial nomination for permanent residence.

The selected candidate who applies for and receives provincial nomination from Ontario receives an additional 600 points towards the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. The additional score moves the applicant chances to receive Invitation to Apply for permanent residence.

The OINP has three Express Entry streams: The Human Capital Priorities Stream has given 3,719 invitations till now followed by French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream at 1,519 and the Skilled Trades Stream at 1,626.

The OINP has now issued four draws through Human Capital Priorities Stream, three of these draws targeted express entry candidates while fourth targeted Express Entry candidates with proficiency in French.

Two of the draws saw the minimum CRS score drop to 351 while the last two targeted job offer.
