Manitoba’s New Immigration Plan to Invite 13,100 Immigrants Annually!

The province of Manitoba is expected to open 168,700 job openings between 2018 and 2024 for the skilled and qualified workers willing to settle and apply for Canadian Permanent Residence, according to the provincial government’s new seven-year labour market outlook. It is said that 66 percent of these openings will replace work retirements and deaths. The report also predicts that approximately there will be 24,100 total job openings per year or 168, 400 new workers joining the labour force between 2018 and 2024.

Manitoba’s unemployment rate is expected to remain same at 5.3 percent for 2018 and 2024. After adjusting the inflation, Manitoba’s economy is expected to grow by an average of 1.7 percent annually from 2018 to 2024.

Manitoba’s labour market has benefited from record population that has attributed Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) allowing province to nominate the potential migrants for permanent residence every year. 

Manitoba’s labour market is expected to increase the hourly income by an average of 2.3 percent annually over the next seven years. This same period, the personal income of people in Manitoba is expected to increase by an average of 3.6 percent annually.

The new jobs due to economic growth is forecasted to create 58,000 job openings ad replacement demand job openings is expected to create 110,700 job openings.  Most of this growth is due to a concerted effort by the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program to use immigration to recruit for labour market and entrepreneurial needs,” the report reads.

The most popular job openings in the province of Manitoba are expected in Sales and Services (33,300 jobs), Business, Finance and Administration (26,400 jobs) and occupations in education, law and social, community and government services at 23,600.

The educational job openings for Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program will about 60 percent post-secondary education, and training.

Well, the overall Manitoba’s labour market is expected to remain balanced over the projection period of 2018-2024. However, the labour shortage or surplus may exist for the occupations individually.
