How Many Points in IELTS Required for Canada Immigration?

IELTS stands for International English Language Testing System (IELTS) that evaluates the English language of the test taker in four sections- Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking. IELTS is the acceptable English Language test format for Canadian Permanent residence.

Language Requirement is one of the immigration factors responsible for Canada PR along with various factors such as age, educational qualification, work experience, language ability, and adaptability factors.

To apply for Canada PR, you may require less IELTS bands based on your visa and eligibility conditions. The lowest IELTS bands requirement is acceptable for Saskatchewan and Manitoba and that is CLB 5. So, technically, with IELTS 5 bands you may apply for Canada Permanent Residence.

However, for skilled migration programs like Express Entry, the basic language band requirement is CLB 7 to become eligible for Canada PR. The CLB 7 is attained by getting IELTS 6 bands in each module of reading, writing, listening and speaking.

If you are planning for provincial nomination program then also you must score at least IELTS 6 bands in each module of reading, writing, listening and speaking.

Though, the highest bands for Canada PR are CLB 9/10 that will give the maximum language assessment points which will ultimately increase the overall Canadian Immigration Points.

The higher you score the better are your Canada PR chances!

Henceforth, one must focus on scoring good bands for Canada PR but you should also focus on other factors as well. After all, the total CRS score will help you in receiving an invitation to apply from the Canada government.
